ETHICS/ACCESS APPROVALS
To gain access to the linkable administrative data housed at the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy, you need to obtain ethics approvals from the University of Manitoba Health Research Ethics Board, and data approvals from the Health Information Privacy Committee and non-health data providers. Once these approvals have been obtained, you can sign the researcher agreement with MCHP.

Other Data Providers
If your project requires access to data from other providers (e.g. Education, Family Services, Justice, etc…) you must submit additional requests for use and receive approvals. The approval bodies will be identified in the letter from the Associate Director. The MCHP Repository Access Coordinator will provide the necessary templates or processes for requesting these approvals. Contact them at mchp_access@cpe.umanitoba.ca
UM-MCHP Researcher Agreement
Once all of the approvals are obtained MCHP will provide a current template of the UofM-MCHP Researcher Agreement. Please complete and send documentation to the MCHP Repository Access Coordinator at mchp_access@cpe.umanitoba.ca. Allow 3 weeks for processing.
a) Completion of a Researcher Agreement (available from MCHP, along with guidelines for its completion)
b) Complete HIPC submission, including a copy of your proposal and proof of funding
c) HIPC letter of approval to proceed with study
d) HREB letter of approval to proceed with study
e) any additional approvals and data requirements that were not managed through MCHP
Amendments
Often you don't anticipate data you need, or later realize you want/need more data to answer your questions. You will need to submit amendments if you want to add additional years of data, or add co-investigators (committee members). To make these changes, you need to submit amendments to HIPC and HREB, and any data providers that you want additional data from.
